Union Station on Fuji
Union Station will always be my favorite spot in Denver and when I’m doing street photos downtown it is always where I start. Started this day off with a coffee in Union Station and decided to take a moment to just sit and listen to the ambience around. Was messing with my camera looking through photos I had previously taken and looked up to catch this perfect framing so I had to capture it. Love the lighting in this scene as well as the framing of the building outside the large window.
After chilling inside with my coffee for some time I decided to walk around Denver to see what I could capture but didn't have to go far before finding some great shots. This train was in the process of loading and I just happened to spot a gentlemen walking past it on the other side and just had enough time to line him up with the open door. Love how I managed to capture him as the subject but also have many elements in the foreground of the train as well as some stuff behind him like the sign and person against the wall.
Lastly while at Union Station I decided to attempt a shot I’ve tried many times in color that I never liked. Turns out the thing it was missing was black and white as I now love this shot of the two trains. The trains at different stopping points created some nice depth to the photo as well as the person on the very edge of the photo adding some life to the photo. I also think the lighting on this photo is really nice because parts that are irrelevant are blown out while the trains are perfectly lit and focused.
Union Station is a great spot to practice street photos without even having to leave. There are plenty of colorful characters as well as nice architecture and life with the trains coming in and out of the station.
